Prerana has been working in the red-light areas (RLAs) of Mumbai since 1986. It provides several crucial services like the Night Care Center (NCC), and the Educational Support Program (ESP), to ensure the safety and well being of the children of victims of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking on a 24×7 basis. The prostituted women living in these red light areas have little to no agency. Often they are under the close control of their brothel keeper or aadmi<\/i> (a kind of pimp), with little agency of their own. Here is one such case of a prostituted mother who was forced to leave her child in the hands of her brothel keeper, but continued to fight the odds to rescue her child.\u00a0Read <\/span>here<\/a><\/p>\n
